Scholarship Opportunities
Each year Norwalk Hospital Foundation provides scholarships to assist students in both undergraduate and graduate programs to pursue careers in nursing and respiratory care. The Norwalk Hospital Foundation wishes to thank all those donors who have helped to make the 2011-2012 scholarship program possible. Below is a list of scholarships available.
Carol Bauer Scholarship
For registered nurses employed at Norwalk Hospital pursuing graduate or post graduate degree in nursing management.
Elizabeth Crager Nursing Scholarship
For undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in nursing programs.
Ellie M. Gummer Memorial Scholarship
Support for oncology nurses pursing educational opportunities.
Gertrude Hotchkiss Heyn Scholarship
For undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in nursing programs with financial need.
Grace Cole Jones Scholarship
For high school students with financial need entering nursing programs at Norwalk Community College, Sacred Heart University and Fairfield University.
Nursing Graduate Education Scholarships
For nurses employed at Norwalk Hospital pursuing graduate level education.
Lea Ruegg Scholarship
For undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in nursing programs.
Strassler Nurse Education Scholarships
For students in graduate or undergraduate nursing with priority for students in critical care or nurse
administration programs.
The Woman’s Board of Norwalk Hospital Nursing Scholarship
For nursing students at Norwalk Community College with a minimum 2.75 GPA.
The Woman’s Board of Norwalk Hospital Respiratory Care Scholarships
For second year students enrolled in the Respiratory Care Program at Norwalk Hospital or Norwalk Community
College with a minimum 2.75 GPA and community involvement.
To apply for a scholarship a student:
• Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited educational institution.
• Must submit a completed application, letter and transcript by May 13, 2011 to the Norwalk Hospital Foundation office.
• Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
• Scholarship recipients will be notified by mail.
• Funds will be sent directly to the educational institution
The mission of the Norwalk Hospital Foundation is to generate philanthropy and awareness to support Norwalk Hospital in being a leader in advanced medical care in the region. Philanthropy is critical to enable Norwalk Hospital to continue to provide compassionate patient-centered care for all patients; build state of the art facilities with innovative new technologies and equipment; develop and provide progressive educational programs to assure medical personnel are up-to-date on the most recent treatments and quality of care; and to attract and retain the best, the brightest and the most dedicated physicians, nurses and other medical staff.
